Heritage architecture across the United States — and especially in cities like Los Angeles — is silently disappearing. Original sculptural elements on century-old buildings are being lost to weather, safety concerns, structural failure, and the vanishing tradition of the master artisans who originally created them.
Digital fabrication has quietly matured to the point where it is now genuinely viable for heritage work. 3D scanning has reached metrology-grade precision. 3D printing has reached architectural scale.
Monumenta Works exists to bridge these two worlds, without compromising the reverence, craft, or fidelity that heritage work demands.
Our work sits at the intersection of architecture historic preservation and architectural conservation.
Key milestones
Foundation of the studio in Los Angeles, California
Architectural-scale 3D printing capability
Revopoint MetroX Ultra metrology scanner
Flagship project: St. James Episcopal Church, Los Angeles — four new saint sculptures designed and installed on a 100-year-old facade
PURPOSE
Preserving the integrity of historic architecture.
01
Architectural heritage must not disappear silently.
Every year, sculptural and ornamental elements are lost from historic buildings because restoration was too slow, too expensive, or simply unavailable.
02
Heritage preservation, more accessible.
By combining scanning, digital design, and lightweight printing, we bring premium-quality restoration into the reach of parishes, community museums, and smaller heritage organizations.
03
A permanent digital record.
Every scan we capture becomes part of a growing archive. Even when a physical piece is eventually lost, its digital twin can always be reproduced.

TECHNOLOGY
Metrology-grade capture, architectural scale.
Revopoint MetroX Ultra
Metrology-grade 3D scanning with sub-millimeter precision, suitable for archival documentation, pre-restoration measurement, and precise replication. Not consumer equipment: the same class of tool used in industrial metrology.
Architectural-scale 3D printing
Large architectural elements are fabricated in multiple sections, assembled, joined, reinforced, and finished as a single completed element.
Digital work in-house
CAD modeling, digital reconstruction, and design development are performed in-house, as are the 3D-printed molds used for casting.
OUR VALUES
Five concepts that guide the work.
Heritage
Reverence for the buildings, communities, cultures, and traditions we work with.
Precision
Metrology-grade capture, engineered fidelity, professional accuracy.
Craftsmanship
Considered, thoughtful, non-industrial. Each project receives the attention of a studio, not the throughput of a factory.
Longevity
Pieces built to last, businesses built to last, relationships built to last.
Technology in service of tradition
We use the most modern tools available to serve the most historic goals. Technology is a means, never an end.
PARTNERS
Built to collaborate.
Monumenta Works is independently owned and maintains a close working relationship with Kaptive Construction & Preservation. With overlap in leadership and personnel, the teams can combine Monumenta’s digital scanning, design and fabrication capabilities with Kaptive’s historic restoration, construction and field expertise. Kaptive is Monumenta’s preferred partner for installation and on-site restoration work. Clients may also use their own qualified contractor for installation.
